Seiko Prospex Sea PADI Automatic 'Pepsi Bezel' Mini Turtle Divers Mens Watch SRPC41K1 RRP £399
The Case:
The case used on this Seiko Prospex PADI SRPC41K1 is made from a stainless steel material, measuring 42.3mm in diameter and 13mm in thickness. Its cushion case resembles a turtles shell which is a term coined among Seiko enthuasists. The first Seiko to use a turtle style case was the 6309 way back in 1977 which was fairly popular among diver's due to its reliable and rugged style. On top of the case is a diving bezel is in the eye-catching colours of both blue and red. These colours are used in the PADI logo of whom have collabarated with Seiko to produce this model and many others. PADI (The Professional Association of Diving Instructors) is the world’s leading scuba diving training organisation, unifying divers around the globe who share a passion for adventure and love for the ocean. The partnership to this day remains exclusive. The bezel can only be spun in one direction which prevents it coming out of place, crucial at the depths of the ocean. Furthermore, protecting the dial is glass made from hardlex crystals which is well-known for being resilant. Also, on the flipside of the case is a screw case back.
The Dial:
The black dial is complemented by silver indexes and hands, of which are coated in LumiBrite. LumiBrite is a coating which allows for easy visibility in the dark, crucial for a night time dive. The dial features a wave like pattern which harks back to the unpredictable ocean. At the top of the dial is the ever present Seiko logo alongside the PADI logo positioned just above the 6 o'clock position. Moreover, at the 3 o'clock position is an easy to read date window which sits underneath a magnified window.
The Strap:
A marine blue strap can be fastened using a standard buckle. The strap is made from a silicone material and comes in the style of an accordian. It has a lug width of 20mm and a maximum length of approximately 19cm. All in all, it makes for a comfortable and reliable fit.
The Functions:
This timepiece is powered by an automatic 4R35 caliber movement. This means that the watch is powered by movement, but can also be charged manually by spinning the crown. The engine has a power reserve of 41 hours which allows you to rest your wrist for the weekend. Also, when you try to adjust the time by pulling out the crown you will notice that the second hand stops. This allows for maximum precision at all times.
This watch has a water resistance of 200 metres, making it suitable for diving.

The Family: Prospex
Seiko Prospex challenges every limit, with a collection of timepieces for sports lovers and adventure seekers whether in the water, in the sky or on land. The sea series covers the water element. From the first diver’s watch released in 1965, Seiko has been exceeding expectations for divers with its innovative technology. A timepiece that guides you through the challenges in the deep blue. Likewise the sky element is covered by the sky series, powerful timepieces that encompass all elements necessary to take control of the sky. Finally, the land series can be summed up as supporting the adventurer every step of the way.
The Brand: Seiko
Ceaseless determination to innovate in every aspect of the watchmaker’s art defines Seiko’s 135-year history. By embracing this ethos, Seiko has been responsible for a string of industry-leading advances in the technology of time. Notably, the creation of the world’s first quartz watch in 1969. Or equally impressive the creation of the world’s first TV watch in 1982. And even more relevant today, with our abhorrent use of non-renewable energy sources, Seiko’s Kinetic. Also, this watch had the ability to generate its own power from the movement of the wearer. The listed technological developments serve as evidence to illustrate the revolutionary impact which Seiko has had on the watchmaking world. They are also remarkably unique in that they manufacture every aspect of every watch in-house. Consequently, Seiko earns its reputation as one of the most reliable watchmakers, as they even grow their own quartz crystals and sapphires.
