Seiko Prospex 1959 Alpinist Automatic Cream Dial Stainless Steel Bracelet Mens Watch SPB241J1
The Case:
Seiko Prospex Alpinist Watch SPB241J1 Gold Dial Mens pays homage to the original Alpinist model, the Seiko Laurel Alpinist, that was released in 1959. The Alpinist family is celebrated for its compact design, its durability, and its affordability. The case of this timepiece is elegant, as it measures 38mm and is highly polished. The adoption of a fixed bezel and vintage box-shaped sapphire crystal are amongst the many features that remain true to the watch’s original design. The glass has been treated to an anti-reflective coating, which ensures optimum legibility. A large easy-to-grip crown is also present at the 3 o’clock mark, it is topped with the Seiko logo.
The Dial:
The dial comes presented in cream and it embraces the spirit of the original design. Silver peak-shaped hour markers are present at the cardinal positions on the dial, while simple silver baton-style hour markers make up the remains positions around the edge of the dial. A classic looking dauphine style handset occupies the centre of the dial. Both the handset and the hour markers have been filled with LumiBrite material so that the dial can be read in the dark. A date window is positioned neatly at the 3 o’clock position, while the Seiko logo is present beneath the 12 o’clock marker.
The Bracelet:
The bracelet is made from stainless steel and comes fashioned in a classic three-link oyster style. The simplistic design of the oyster bracelet was was first introduced by Rolex in 1948 and it has since enjoyed a close association with an array of dive watches, this is due to their utilitarian character that ensures functionality. The bracelet fastens using a three fold clasp with a secure lock, to ensure it remains upon the wearer’s wrist.
The Functions:
Seiko’s 6L35 powers this timepiece it is considered to be a high-end automatic movement, as it beats at 45,000 vph and has a power reserve of 45 hours. The movement offers a hacking feature, as well as hand-winding function. It has an accuracy of +15 to -10 seconds per day. The watch has a water resistance of 100 metres, meaning it can be worn for snorkelling.
