Background:
The Case:
Perhaps the most distinguishable feature of this model is the shield shaped silver stainless steel case. It is a feature common to all Ventura models, but it is one that gives them their unique appeal. The man responsible for this groundbreaking design was Richard Arbib. This American designer had worked for General Motors, Century Boats and Harry Winston, and had a way of creating designs that seemed to embody the rapid technological breakthroughs that the world had seen after WWII. This was certainly true of the Ventura. It measures at 32mm in width and 50mm in length and the highly polished finish of the steel sublimates the case's appearance. Additionally, a crown besides the 3 o'clock, it has been knurled which allows for easy hand winding. It also features the 'H' logo embossed on to it.
The Dial:
The design of the dial matches the wider aesthetics of the watch. Through the offering of a refined black dial with silver, slim dot and stick increments that provide additional class. Likewise, the small silver sword hand set has a similar effect, as it bestows with effortless levels of sophistication. In the centre of the dial lies the Hamilton logo, as well the squiggle which is a reminder of the fact that the Ventura was the first electric watch.
The Strap:
The black cow leather strap completes the timepieces dignified appearance. The textured design of the strap is evidence of Hamilton's peerless levels of craftsmanship. It fastens easily using a fold over clasp with the Hamilton logo engraved in to it.
The Functions:
Significantly, the Ventura was the world's first electrical, battery powered watch, earning it a place in watchmaking history. It is powered by quartz mechanisms, which offer unparalleled levels of accuracy. This watch has a water resistance of 50 metres, making it suitable for surface swimming.

| F05.111 Caliber | Stainless Steel Case | Mineral Crystal Glass |
| Quartz Movement | 32,3mm x 50,3mm Case | 50m Water Resistant |
| Black Leather Strap | 17mm Lug Width | Folding Clasp |
The Family: Ventura
1957 was a definitive year for Hamilton, as they released the Ventura for the first time. This is due to the fact that it was the world’s first battery powered watch. Furthermore this marked the first major change in watchmaking technology in half a millennium. Moreover, the dramatically asymmetric case was unique and unlike any other watch made that preceded it. Hence why the public fell in love with it. Namely the watch was conceived by the legendary industrial designer Richard Arbib. In view of this the Ventura was the quintessence of Mid-Century Modern design.
The Brand: Hamilton
Since its foundation in 1892, Hamilton Watch Company have developed a reputation for being a provider of accurate timekeeping. Hence why they earned the title of “The Watch of Railroad Accuracy", as a result of their accurate pocket watches.
Hamilton earned a place in history, as they found themselves suppliers of watches to the US military in both world wars. The US Naval Lab invited the Hamilton Watch Company to create an American made chrono. There was a shortage of chronos available to the US Government during the First World War. Therefore they had to rely solely on European made pieces. For this reason Hamilton agreed in 1941 to undertake the work. Moreover, by 1944 Hamilton had produced more than 10,000 Chronometers in aid of the American War effort.
Hamilton have developed a close relationship over the years with Hollywood. They have featured in over 450 films, starting in 1951 with the Frogman watch. Other films include: Elvis Presley's in 1961’s 'Blue Hawaii' and in '2001: A Space Odyssey'. Hamilton have featured in films such as 'Interstellar' and 'The Martian'.
In 2003 Hamilton moved their headquarters to Switzerland. They are still a global force within the watch industry. This is because they offer a combination of American heritage, Swiss workings and a touch of Hollywood flair.
