Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot Pioneer 1973 RAF Recreation Mechanical Black Dial Leather Strap Mens Watch H76419531
The Background:
This Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer Mechanical H76419531 W-10 Remake Mens Watch is a wonderful piece of craftsmanship. It pays homage to W10 pilot watch which Hamilton manufactured for the British Royal Air Force in the 1970s. Hamilton had a contract with the British Armed Forces in the 1960s and 70s to provide them with field watches. The W10 was primarily produced between 1973-76 .
Style:
The case is only slightly larger than the original, measuring at 36mm. A distinct black dial has a unique rough texture to make it appear as it has been tried and tested in the field. This is complimented by brown accents to provide a unique look. Roman numeral indexes sit around the edge of the dial with the hands powered by the H-50 movement as mentioned. Surrounding the dial is a large silver stainless steel case with mineral crystal glass, as well as double anti-reflective coating, to provide a clear view to the wearer. Then, a brown leather strap can be fastened using a standard buckle.
The Movement:
The watch is powered by a strong and exclusive H-50 hand-winding movement which has a power reserve of 80 hours, which in comparison to the average 42 hour power reserve amongst other watches is astonishing.
Finally, this watch has a water resistance of 100 metres, making it suitable for swimming and snorkelling.

The Brand: Hamilton
Since its foundation in 1892, Hamilton Watch Company have developed a reputation for being a provider of accurate timekeeping. Hence they earned the title of “The Watch of Railroad Accuracy", as a result of their highly accurate pocket watches.
Furthermore, Hamilton earned a place in history, as they found themselves suppliers of watches to the US military in both world wars. The US Naval Lab invited the Hamilton Watch Company to create an American made chrono. There was a shortage of chronos available to the US Government during the First World War. Therefore they had to rely solely on European made pieces. For this reason Hamilton agreed in 1941 to undertake the work. Moreover, by 1944 Hamilton had produced more than 10,000 Chronometers in aid of the American War effort.
Moreover, Hamilton have developed a close relationship over the years with Hollywood. Also, Hamilton watches have featured in over 450 films, beginning in 1951 with the Frogman watch. Other films include: Elvis Presley in 1961’s 'Blue Hawaii' and in '2001: A Space Odyssey'. Furthermore, Hamilton have featured in films such as 'Interstellar' and 'The Martian'.
In 2003 Hamilton moved their headquarters to a facility in Switzerland. They are still a global force within the timepiece industry. This is because Hamilton watches offer a combination of American heritage, Swiss internal workings and a touch of Hollywood flair.
