Seiko Prospex ‘Arnie’ PADI ‘Pepsi’ ‘Tuna’ Solar Black Dial Silicone Strap Diver’s Mens Watch SNJ027P1

The Case:

The Seiko Prospex ‘Arnie’ SNJ027P1encapsulates the true essence of a tool-orientated watch, as it is defined by its bold over sized dimensions and functionality. The SNJ027P1 is made from a stainless steel and BLACK silicone, the watch is nicknamed the ‘Arnie’ after it was worn by the actor in ‘Commando’. The large circular case measures 48mm in diameter and its resemblance to a tuna can is why this shape is affectionally referred to as the ‘Tuna’ by Seiko fans. It shares other similarities with other ‘Tuna’ style Seiko, such as the stainless steel bezel with easy-to-grip edges. These knurled edges of the bezel allow the wearer to utilise the uni-directional rotating bezel easily. The bezel is presented in the classic blue and red coloured of ‘Pepsi’, hence its nickname amongst Seiko fans.

A 60-minute scale is displayed on the bezel too, while a luminescent pip is present at the 12 o’clock mark on it. Another characteristic of the watch that is similar to the ‘Tuna’ is the protective green shroud. On the edge of the case there is a screw down crown besides the 3 o’clock marker and two push buttons besides the 8 o’clock and 10 o’clock markers.

The Dial:

The ‘Arnie’ is considered a modern re-interpretation of Seiko’s’ world-first ‘Hybrid divers’  watch that was originally released in 1982. It is called a ‘hybrid’ because it offer both digital and analogical displays on the dial. The digital display is LCD and is situated neatly at the top of the dial. The analogical display is presented through the luminescent hands and indexes, allowing the dial to be read in the dark. The addition of a red seconds hand provides a striking contrast as it sweeps around the black dial. A 24-hour scale is also seen on the chapter ring on the outer edge of the dial.

The Strap:

The black utilitarian strap is made from silicone and it is a pertinent reminder of the watch’s ‘Commando’ inspiration. The accordion style strap, that was first invented by Seiko, is perforated which permits breathability and comfort. Silicone are water resistant and easy to maintain, which are to essential tool watch qualities. The Seiko wave logo also has been pressed into the strap. It fastens securely through the use of a standard silver buckle.

The Features:

This Seiko Street Series ‘Arnie’ is solar powered and uses Seiko’s H851 movement, which has a power reserve of six months when it is fully charged. The solar quartz mechanisms offer an astounding accuracy of -15/+15 seconds per month, in comparison to the standard accuracy of -15/+15 seconds per day. The watch also offers a number of different functions such as an alarm, chronograph and full-auto calendar that can all be seen through the digital at the top of the dial. The watch also comes equipped with an LCD backlight so that is can be made visible in the dark. It is also water resistant up to 200 metres, making it suitable for diving.

Free Strap Adjustment

It's important that your watch fits your wrist comfortably and looks great at the same time.

Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit.

This is generally a very simple procedure. We can do this for you, or you can get the watch adjusted locally.

Option 1. Specify your wrist measurement and we will adjust it before being sent

When purchasing a watch which has a metal bracelet with adjustable links, we will gladly adjust the watch bracelet to fit your wrist before sending the watch to you - free of charge!

Simply type your wrist measurement (in inches or centimetres) into the bracelet size section of the checkout and we will ensure the watch bracelet is adjusted accordingly before being sent to you. We will include all the surplus links, with the watch.

How to measure your wrist

You can measure your wrist with a piece of string which you can measure against a ruler:

You should allow about half a centimetre (1/4 inch) of slack to prevent it being too tight on your wrist.

In the event of you needing an extra-long wrist bracelet, which requires an extension to the original watch, we must obtain extra links from the manufacturer, and in this event, we will contact you to inform you of any possible delays or applicable charges.

Watches with bracelets adjusted by WatchNation are still eligible under our refund policy.

Option 2. Buy the watch online from WatchNation and have it adjusted locally

If you wish, you can have it adjusted locally by another jeweller or key cutter. However, you will have to cover the cost of this option yourself.
