The power reserve for this calibre is around the 40 hour mark, allowing you to take it off for the weekend.Furthermore, when the crown is pulled out a hack feature means that the second hand will come to a stop. The hands and indexes are coated in a LumiBrite material which allows for easy visibility at night. Additionally, the new Seiko 5 Sports logo can be found at the 12 o'clock position which resembles the Superman logo with a blend of the '5' and the 'S'. Moreover, working clockwise, at the 3 o'clock position is a simplistic white and black day and date dial which can be displayed in English or French. Additionally, the movement of automatic is labelled by the 6 o'clock position in fancy writing which brings out the stylish side of this timepiece. The dial is protected by a thick stainless steel case as well as hardlex crystal glass to provide the protection it deserves. Also, a black bezel sits on-top of the case in increments of ten. The crown can be found at the 4 o'clock position with a raised shield to prevent it being knocked out of place. On the flip side is a open case back which allows you to see all the features and intricate workings of the watch. Then a silver stainless steel bracelet can be fastened using a three fold clasp. Finally, this watch has a water resistance of 100 metres, making it suitable for swimming and snorkelling.Key Features:5 Sports FamilyBlack DialSilver Stainless Steel CaseSilver Stainless Steel BraceletAutomatic MovementCaliber 4R36Manual Winding Capacity+-45 Seconds Per DayApprox. 41 Hour DurationHardlex CrystalLumiBrite100m Water ResistantScrew Case BackSee-Through Case BackUnidirectional Rotating Bezel24 JewelsDay/Date DisplayStop Second Hand Function46mm CaseThe Family: Seiko 5 SportsThe Seiko 5 Sports has set the standard in affordable, rugged and stylish watches since 1963. Description

Seiko 5 Sports Black Dial Silver Stainless Steel Bracelet Automatic Men’s Watch SRPD55K1

The Case:

The 43mm case of this Seiko 5 Sports model is made from polished stainless steel, which offers the wearer unparalleled levels of anti-corrosiveness, as well as ensuring greater shine longevity. Hardlex glass has also been used in order to provide further protection. There is also a non-screw down crown present besides the 4 o’clock marker, the crown guard has a brushed finish, which creates a subtle, yet satisfying, contrast between it and the rest of the polished case. Similarly, the black uni directional bezel is made from stainless steel too. On the outer edge of the bezel there is a raised pattern design, which is reminiscent of the ‘clous de paris’ design, which is a technique commonly applied to Patek Philippe watches. The case back is transparent, which allows the wearer to view the inner mechanisms of the timepiece.

The Bracelet:

The silver bracelet of the watch is made from highly durable stainless steel, that has been finished using a brushing technique. This creates a subtle, but welcomed, contrast between the polishing of the case and the brushing of the bracelet. It comes in the style of an oyster bracelet, which is associated with the Rolex brand. It fastens using a three fold clasp.

The Dial:

The alluring blue dial of the watch is complemented by the luminescent indices and hands, which allows for easy visibility at night. The hour hand comes in a cathedral style, whereas the minute hand comes in an arrow style, both have an elegant polished silver trim. The second indices are positioned within the chapter ring which is another subdued, but pleasing, touch. A day date window replaces the 3 o’clock marker, this can be displayed in either English or French. The new Seiko 5 Sport logo is present beneath the 12 o’clock marker, whilst ‘automatic’ is displayed above the 6 o’clock mark.

The Functions:

The Seiko 5 Sports range boast Seiko’s new upgraded 4R36 automatic. It is the same movement that is found in more expensive Seiko models, such as the ‘Turtle’ that belongs to the Prospex range. The movement consists of 24 jewels and it operates at 21,600 beats per hour, this ensures the watch has 40 hours of power reserve. It includes Seiko Diashock, which essentially protects the inner mechanisms from any damage the watch may sustain if it were to be dropped or knocked. It is expected to either gain or loose between +45 / -35 seconds per day. Finally, this watch has a water resistance of 100 metres, making it suitable for swimming and snorkelling.

The Seiko 5 Sports has set the standard in affordable, rugged and stylish watches since 1963. Designed to be simple but serious, the Seiko 5 is so-called due to its five key attributes: automatic winding, displaying the day and date in a single window, water resistance, a recessed crown at the 4 o’clock position and a durable metal bracelet. The Brand: Seiko

Seiko’s story began in 1881 with the opening of a clock shop in Tokyo, it’s owner was Kintaro Hattori. Eleven years after the opening of his shop, Hattori opened a clock factory with ten employees and it was in 1895 that they began to produce pocket watches. Soon followed by alarm clocks in 1899, and then table clocks in 1902. Then in 1913 Hattori began working on his first wristwatch. The in 1924, 43 years after the initial opening, the brand Seiko was born with the creation of the first Seiko wristwatch.

Seiko established itself throughout the 20th century as being a driving force in the advancements that took place in the watching world. For example, in 1956, Seiko were the producers of the first winding wristwatch made in Japan. Then in 1964, Seiko became the official timer for the Tokyo Olympics. And then most notably Seiko unveiled the first quartz wristwatch, the Astron, in 1969. Marking the beginning of the quartz revolution. Or equally impressive the creation of the world’s first TV watch in 1982. And even more relevant today, with our abhorrent use of non-renewable energy sources, Seiko’s Kinetic. This watch had the ability to generate its own power from the movement of the wearer.

Ceaseless determination to innovate in every aspect of the watchmaker’s art is what defines Seiko’s 135-year history. By embracing this ethos, Seiko has been responsible for a string of industry-leading advances in the technology of time. Notably, the creation of the world’s first quartz watch in 1969. The listed technological developments serve as evidence to illustrate the revolutionary impact which Seiko has had on the watchmaking world. They are also markably unique in that they manufacture every aspect of every watch in-house.

Free Strap Adjustment

It's important that your watch fits your wrist comfortably and looks great at the same time.

Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit.

This is generally a very simple procedure. We can do this for you, or you can get the watch adjusted locally.

Option 1. Specify your wrist measurement and we will adjust it before being sent

When purchasing a watch which has a metal bracelet with adjustable links, we will gladly adjust the watch bracelet to fit your wrist before sending the watch to you - free of charge!

Simply type your wrist measurement (in inches or centimetres) into the bracelet size section of the checkout and we will ensure the watch bracelet is adjusted accordingly before being sent to you. We will include all the surplus links, with the watch.

How to measure your wrist

You can measure your wrist with a piece of string which you can measure against a ruler:

You should allow about half a centimetre (1/4 inch) of slack to prevent it being too tight on your wrist.

In the event of you needing an extra-long wrist bracelet, which requires an extension to the original watch, we must obtain extra links from the manufacturer, and in this event, we will contact you to inform you of any possible delays or applicable charges.

Watches with bracelets adjusted by WatchNation are still eligible under our refund policy.

Option 2. Buy the watch online from WatchNation and have it adjusted locally

If you wish, you can have it adjusted locally by another jeweller or key cutter. However, you will have to cover the cost of this option yourself.
