The Case:
The dimensions of this sleek brushed stainless steel case, belonging to the Victorinox Field Force Chronograph 241854, are very much comparable with those of many other modern sports watches. The case measures at 42mm in diameter and 12mm in height, which is a perfect ratio that allows for unparalleled levels of comfort when on the wrist. Moreover, the design of the case features a fixed bezel with tachymeter readings, that can be used to compute a speed based on travel time or measure distance based on speed. Also present is a screw down crown, embossed with the Victorinox logo, besides the 3 o’clock mark. Finally, anti reflective sapphire crystal glass ensures maximum levels of legibility and protection from scratches and knocks.
The Dial:
Legibility appears to be the driving force behind the design of the dial. As is evidenced through the adoption of large lume filled Arabic numerals, as well as oversized lume filled sword hands that are set against a blue dial. There are three chronographs on the dial which is in such a formation that it resembles a panda's face, earning the nickname 'panda dial'. The chronographs are used to measure time seperately, which in addition to the tachymeter brings out the sporty side to the timepiece. Furthermore, a date window can be found replacing the 6 o'clock index. Also present is Victorinox’s famous red second hand, as well as the Victorinox logo that replaces the 12 o’clock marker.
The Strap:
Furthermore, the brown leather strap provides this model with peerless levels of versatility. Whilst it is the perfect accompaniment for an outdoor adventure, due to its flexibility and comfort, it also imparts a sophisticated feel. The patina coloured stitching on the outer edge of the bracelet also completes the watches timeless feel. The buckle of the bracelet has ‘Victorinox’ engraved onto it.
The Functions:
Ronda 5030.D movement powers this timepiece, it is a highly dependable quartz movement. It has a 19 jewelled bearings and it offers the wearer an accuracy of +/-10 seconds a month, as well as a power reserve of around 54 months. It also offers hand and automatic winding, as well as a hacking feature. This timepiece is water resistant up to 100 metres, so that it is suitable for snorkelling.
