Seiko 5 Sports x Peanuts ‘Surfboard’ Limited Edition Automatic 38mm Mens Watch SRPK25K1

Introducing, the Seiko 5 Sports x Peanuts ‘Surfboard’ Mens Watch SRPK25K1, one of a limited-edition collaboration of two watch designs, to commemorate the 55th Anniversary of Seiko 5 Sports watches.

Peanuts started in 1950, as a newspaper comic strip with characters which are now internationally famous with fans around the world.

Two limited edition Seiko 5 Sports watches have been designed with original Peanuts illustrations on the dial and caseback, drawings selected from the same year as the launch of the Seiko 5 Sports brand; 1968. The ‘Schulz’ font, a style used by Peanuts creator Charles M.Schulz, is used for the indices. This specific design features a Surfboard as its main theme.

Seiko 5 Sports is known for over fifty years of reliability, durability, performance, and value. ‘’5’’ represents the original five key features of every Seiko 5 still present today: Automatic movement, Day-date display, Water Resistance, Recessed crown and Durable case and bracelet.

The Case:

The case remains true to the classic SKX design, but is made more wearable with a diameter reduction to 38mm. The brushed stainless steel case features a unidirectional rotating bezel that can be used to measure elapsed time, making it ideal for water sports enthusiasts. The bezel has large notches around its circumference, making it easy to grip and turn even while wearing gloves or underwater. The recessed crown is flanked by two crown guards, located at 4pm, to prevent it from being knocked out of place. The crown is also screw-down, providing additional water resistance. Furthermore, the caseback of the timepiece is solid and features an original Peanuts illustration and other relevant information such as the watch’s water resistance rating. Moreover, the hardlex crystal is scratch-resistant, ensuring durability for everyday wear. 

The Dial:

The layout of the dial continues to pay homage to the classic Seiko SKX design, offering a  clean and legible layout. It is presented in a crisp white tone and features an illustration of a surfboard that has been chosen from a 1963 publication of ‘Peanuts’, commemorating the birth year of the Seiko 5 Sport. Luminous coated hour markers and syringe/arrow style handset that are also coated in LumiBrite, ensure easy readability even in low-light conditions. The orange second hand provides a bold and eye-catching contrast against the sharp white dial, adding a pop of colour and another element of visual interest to the watch’s design. The day-date aperture replaces the 3 o’clock marker, and the 60-second track on the chapter ring ensures precise timing. The Seiko 5 Sports logo adds a touch of class to this already stunning timepiece.

The Strap:

Presented on a classic NATO-style strap, this limited edition timepiece exudes a timeless and casual charm. The durable nylon material of the strap is designed to withstand daily use and can be easily swapped out for other straps, providing an option for customization. The subdued grey and white colours of the strap create a harmonious contrast that complements the watch’s design timeless style 

The Functions:

Powered by Seiko’s automatic 4R36 movement, this watch offers accurate and precise timekeeping, without the need for batteries or winding. Moreover, the watch is also water-resistant to an impressive 100 metres, meaning it can be worn safely when diving or participating in other water-based activities.
