The Hamilton Khaki Field Murph Auto H70405740 is a 38mm automatic watch featuring a distinctive blue-to-black gradient dial inspired by an interstellar comet. The luminous blue centre gradually fades into black towards the outer edge, creating depth across the dial. A fine, stardust-inspired texture adds another layer of detail, while the slightly domed numerals and cathedral-shaped hands retain the recognisable design elements of the Murph. The sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective coating and protects the dial, while Super-LumiNova provides illumination in low-light conditions.
A Murph Design from Interstellar
The Khaki Field Murph is associated with the watch worn by Murph Cooper in the 2014 film Interstellar, played by Jessica Chastain. This H70405740 version retains the characteristic cathedral-shaped hands and domed numerals of the Murph while introducing the blue-to-black dial with its comet-inspired gradient and textured surface. The combination of the 38mm stainless steel case, H-10 automatic movement, sapphire crystal and black leather strap creates another interpretation of the cinematic timepiece.

The watch features a 38mm stainless steel case measuring 11.1mm in thickness, with a 20mm lug width. Its proportions retain the compact dimensions associated with the Khaki Field Murph while providing a defined presence on the wrist. The case is paired with an open caseback, allowing the H-10 automatic movement to be viewed. Water resistance is rated at 10 bar, equivalent to 100 metres, providing protection for everyday wear.
H-10 Automatic Movement
The H70405740 is powered by Hamilton's H-10 automatic movement, a three-hand calibre with an 80-hour power reserve. The movement incorporates a Nivachron balance spring, designed to provide increased resistance to magnetic fields. Its extended power reserve allows the watch to continue running for up to 80 hours when fully wound, offering a practical feature for an automatic watch that may not be worn every day.
Black Calf Leather Strap
The watch is fitted with a black calf leather strap featuring contrasting white stitching. The 20mm strap is secured with a pin buckle measuring 18mm in width, creating a traditional fastening that complements the field-watch design. The black leather provides a visual link to the darker edge of the dial, while the white stitching adds a clear contrast against the strap.
