Introducing 3 new Seiko Alpinist! Exciting news for the popular Alpinist range reincarnated from the depths of Seiko Japan , the legacy continues from the outstanding original SARB017J1, Seiko released the trio of new Alpinist watches as a reincarnation from a line of Alpinist watches engineered for Japanese mountain climbers going way back to 1961 "The Laurel Alpinist" the first ever Alpinist Seiko watch.
The History
The all new Seiko Prospex Alpinist SPB121J1 is a perfect fit for a large portion of the watch-wearing and collecting section, The timepiece can be summed up as being reliable, robust and attractive. This has meant that the Alpinist range has become immensely popular since its original exclusive release of the SARB017J1 in Japan in 2006. We are happy and proud to announce that we are one of a select few to have stock of the three new Alpinist models among our renowned Seiko collection, one of the biggest in the UK.
The Style
The gold indexes, hands and logo are all created with a precision that is well worthy of it's value. Also, the green dial draws from Seiko’s rich heritage as one of the first to make and produce watches with a green dial. Also, on the reverse of the case is an exhibition window which allows you to see all the intricate workings of the watch. In terms of visualization the only upgrade is the branded Prospex ‘X’ logo at 12 o’clock. The case comes in a convenient 39.5mm diameter, 13.2mm thickness alongside the strap having a lug-to-lug width of 46mm. The strap consists of a 20mm reptilian-embossed brown calf stitched leather strap with a push-button deployment clasp.

Now, Seiko have taken the aspects of the 2006 model the SARB017J1 and upgraded them ever so slightly. The new model uses a 6R35 calibre which comes with a colossal seventy hour power reserve, 21,600 beats per minute and sapphire crystal which has been reworked, now with a date magnifier and an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface. The anti-reflective coating helps to prevent glare on the watch which is particularly beneficial when climbing up a mountain on a hot summers day.The watch has a ‘go anywhere, do anything’ water resistance of 200 metres. On the side of the case is a twin crown setup, with the lower controlling the inner compass with the one positioned at 3 o’clock controlling the time and date. Again, the inner compass further boasts the main purpose of the piece to scale the highest of mountains.
