Baselworld 2019 Releases
If you're a watch enthusiast then you've probably heard of Switzerland's Baselworld. Baselworld is the largest and most impressive watch show in the world. The best of the best brands fill the exhibition centre with glitzy million dollar stands, showcasing the best innovation and invention horology has to offer.
Some of the most memorable releases are featured below.
Rolex Updated a whole host of their watches but arguably the most impressive one of all was the GMT Master II Black and Blue. Just like last year we saw the red and blue 'Pepsi' GMT-Master updated, this year the blue and black 'Batman' is fitted with a stunning Jubilee bracelet and new generation calibre 3285.
Tag Heuer re-released the 1960's Autavia as a stand alone collection. The models boast versatility, ruggedness and reliability like the original. The model features a retro rounded 42mm case and beveled lugs from the 1960's. There are sporty elements to the watch such as a bidirectional rotating bezel with a 60 minute scale in ceramic and stainless steel. The oversized crown takes inspiration from Pilot's watches.
Seiko predominantly focused on the Prospex range, in particular the 1970's diver recreation. The new model is slightly larger but the remaining aesthetics are faithful to the original.
The inside of the watch has been completely updated and incorporates the 8L35 calibre, a calibre specifically designed for use in diver's watches.
The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Venturer is sporty watch that's 'designed for the intense, fast paced life of major metropolises'. The watch is automatic and has a stainless steel case measuring at 43mm.
Both feature a brushed dial and a 5 row stainless steel easy change bracelet. The ceramic bezel comes in two options: blue or black.
The limited edition INOX carbon takes inspiration from firefighters. The carbon case and dial features a yellow and red second hand and coordinates a bright neon para cord strap.
It arrives in a shockproof box in firetruck red and accompanies a matching Swiss Army Knife Rescue Tool. The lightweight watch is limited to 1200 pieces.
If the bright neon strap is too much for you, it also comes with an interchangeable black strap made from firefighter boot leather.
