Created for Nivada Grenchen’s centenary, the F77 MKII 100 Years collection takes one of the brand’s most recognisable 1970s designs and moves it forward with natural stone dials, an exhibition caseback and the Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement.

A New Chapter for the F77
Natural Stone, Individually Applied
Each F77 dial is cut from natural stone and individually applied, so the veining, colour and pattern will vary from one watch to the next, and no two dials will ever be exactly the same.

Founded in Grenchen in 1926, Nivada marks a century of Swiss watchmaking with an F77 that looks forward as much as it looks back. The familiar integrated design is joined by new materials and mechanics for the brand’s 100th year.

Inside is the Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement, bringing 68 hours of power reserve, 4Hz frequency and 24 jewels to the F77. Visible through the sapphire caseback, it represents one of the most significant mechanical upgrades the collection has received.

A LOOK AT EACH MODEL
A natural stone dial is not simply a colour treatment.
Thin sections of mineral are cut and prepared to become the visible surface of the watch, bringing with them natural veining, inclusions, colour changes and patterns formed long before they became part of an F77.
Nivada has chosen seven materials for the centenary collection, from relatively restrained black and smoky tones to considerably more expressive blues and greens.

Ice Agate
The dedicated centenary edition.
Ice Agate combines translucent layers with pale blue, white and crystalline patterns that give every dial a naturally different appearance. Nivada describes the material as being formed through mineral deposits over millions of years, with variations that cannot be reproduced from one piece to another.
Against the sharply brushed steel of the F77, it is probably the clearest expression of what this collection is about: a very structured watch surrounding something completely organic.

LABRADORITE
Labradorite changes considerably with the light, moving through darker mineral tones into blue and green reflections as the watch changes angle.
It is one of the more dynamic stones in the collection and particularly well suited to a watch whose brushed bracelet is already designed to react to movement and light.

JADE
The Jade F77's richer green colouring is generally more uniform than other stones, allowing the natural material to bring depth without overwhelming the sharp case and bracelet around it.

Black Opal
Black Opal starts with a darker base but comes alive through flashes of green, blue and other colours as the stone catches the light.
That changing play of colour makes it one of the more visually expressive dials in the range, while the natural formation ensures the pattern will never be repeated exactly on another watch

Azurite
Probably one of the most immediately distinctive options.
Azurite combines deep blue with areas of vivid green and naturally irregular mineral patterning. The balance changes from one dial to the next, so some watches may lean heavily towards blue while others reveal considerably more gree

Shungite Black
A black stone dial for anyone who prefers the material to reveal itself more gradually.
Shungite is naturally carbon-rich, giving the dial a deep black appearance with subtle raw texture across its surface. From a distance it is the most restrained member of the collection; closer inspection reveals why it is here.

Smoky Quartz
Smoky Quartz brings warmer brown, grey and translucent tones into a collection otherwise dominated by cooler colours.
The result softens the industrial character of the F77 without changing anything about the steel case surrounding it.
La Joux-Perret G101
A New Movement for the F77
The biggest change is hidden around the back.
For the 100 Years collection, Nivada has moved to the La Joux-Perret G101, visible through a new sapphire exhibition caseback.
The G101 is a swiss-made, dedicated no-date automatic calibre. At 25.6mm across and 4.45mm thick, it has been developed with dimensional compatibility to familiar Swiss movements, but extends the power reserve to 68 hours while retaining a 4Hz frequency and stop-seconds function.
Nivada has also made the movement worth looking at. Through the exhibition caseback you can see a striped rotor carrying the Nivada Grenchen name in gold, with further decorative finishing visible beneath.
