Seiko began as a clock repair store in Tokyo in 1881, founded by the current CEO’s Great grandfather, the name derived from ‘Seikosha’ or ‘House of precision'. With a purpose to pursue watchmaking excellence, Seiko has grown into a global timekeeping presence.
Renowned for horological innovation with a stream of world firsts including the first TV watches, Seiko created the first ever quartz watch in 1969. Seiko timepieces deliver precisely beautiful Japanese aesthetics, brought to life through total in-house manufacture.

SEIKO 5 CLASSIC
The Seiko 5 family incorporates simplicity, but seriousness. The name of the Seiko 5 derives from its five key attributes, which Seiko promised to include in every watch that belonged to the family. They are: automatic winding, displaying the day and date in a single window, water resistance, a recessed crown at the 4 o’clock position and a durable metal bracelet.

Seiko's journey began in 1881 when 21-year-old Kintaro Hattori opened a watch and clock shop in Tokyo's Ginza district. His guiding principle was to "keep every promise, no matter how difficult," reflecting his commitment to quality and customer trust. In 1892, Hattori established the Seikosha factory in Sumida, Tokyo, with the ambition to produce high-precision timepieces domestically. This move marked the beginning of Seiko's legacy in watchmaking.
In 1924, Seikosha introduced the first wristwatch bearing the "Seiko" name on the dial, signifying the brand's official inception. This milestone set the stage for a century of innovation, including the creation of Japan's first wristwatch, the "Laurel," in 1913. Seiko's dedication to craftsmanship and innovation has been a constant throughout its history, embodying Hattori's philosophy of always being
"one step ahead of the rest".
