Description

Seiko Prospex Save The Ocean ‘King Samurai’ Automatic Blue Dial Blue Silicone Strap Mens Watch SRPF79K1

The Case:

The Seiko Prospex ‘King Samurai’ SRPF79K1 measures 44mm in diameter and it is made from solid stainless steel. The watch’s ‘Samurai’ nickname derives from the case’s sharp, clean-cut, tapered edges that look as if they have been sliced off by a ‘Katana’ sword. The powerful steel case has been brushed, which provides the watch with a lustre that also helps to ensure the longevity of the timepiece.

The ‘King Samurai’ is different from the standard ‘Samurai’ in that it has a ceramic bezel instead of a stainless steel bezel. The benefit of having a ceramic bezel is that they provide greater durability and scratch resistance than a stainless steel bezel, this is why it is a material more commonly associated with luxury watches.  The bezel is uni-directional and it is presented in black. A 60-minute scale is displayed on the bezel, which allows the wearer to keep track of time spent under water. The side of the bezel has been deeply etched with a ‘Clous De Paris’ pattern which enables optimum grip, whilst also bestowing the watch with a contemporary feel. A luminescent pip is situated at the 12 o’clock mark which makes it easier for the 60-minute scale to be read underwater.

A screw-down crown is situated besides the 3 o’clock mark on the side of the case, it is protected by a tapered crown guard. On the back of case a stainless steel screw down case back has been engraved. On the front sapphire crystal glass has been applied for its scratch resistant qualities, as it is second only to diamond in its hardness. The sapphire crystal glass has been treated to an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface, which eliminates the threat of reflections from light.

The Dial:

The dial of this special edition timepiece represents the view of the ocean as seen by the 5m deep vision of the Manta Ray endangered species. Its colours echo the gradations of sunlight refraction and the patterns symbolise waves seen from under the sea. The simplistic layout of the dial ensures optimum legibility and avoids the risk of any complications. The dial consists of bold hour markers and an equally bold handset that have both been filled with a luminescent material, allowing the wearer to read the time in the dark. A pointed seconds hand also ensures that the time is always accurately displayed. Additional useful features present on the dial include a cyclops date window that replaces the 3 o’clock marker and 60-minute scale chapter ring. The Seiko logo is presented in white beneath the 12 o’clock marker.

The Strap:

The strap of this watch is made from a blue silicone offset by the shade of the dial. Bringing a pop of colour that is nonetheless entirely harmonious with the rest of the timepiece, the bracelet of the Seiko Prospex SRPF79K1 is both rugged and chic. The strap features a standard pin buckle clasp so that fastens securely around the wrist.

The Function:

Seiko’s exclusive 4R35 automatic movement powers this timepiece. It is a self-winding calibre with manual-winding capacity and that has a hacking feature. The 4R35 movement has a 41 hour power reserve and it consists of 23 jewels and it beats at 21,600vph. It offers a water resistance of 200 metres, making it suitable for diving. Like the other watch in this unique collection, the SRPF79K1 comes with a special edition ‘Save the Ocean’ box.

Free Strap Adjustment

It's important that your watch fits your wrist comfortably and looks great at the same time.

Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit.

This is generally a very simple procedure. We can do this for you, or you can get the watch adjusted locally.

Option 1. Specify your wrist measurement and we will adjust it before being sent

When purchasing a watch which has a metal bracelet with adjustable links, we will gladly adjust the watch bracelet to fit your wrist before sending the watch to you - free of charge!

Simply type your wrist measurement (in inches or centimetres) into the bracelet size section of the checkout and we will ensure the watch bracelet is adjusted accordingly before being sent to you. We will include all the surplus links, with the watch.

How to measure your wrist

You can measure your wrist with a piece of string which you can measure against a ruler:

You should allow about half a centimetre (1/4 inch) of slack to prevent it being too tight on your wrist.

In the event of you needing an extra-long wrist bracelet, which requires an extension to the original watch, we must obtain extra links from the manufacturer, and in this event, we will contact you to inform you of any possible delays or applicable charges.

Watches with bracelets adjusted by WatchNation are still eligible under our refund policy.

Option 2. Buy the watch online from WatchNation and have it adjusted locally

If you wish, you can have it adjusted locally by another jeweller or key cutter. However, you will have to cover the cost of this option yourself.
