Seiko 5 Sports Bottle Cap Root Beer Brown Nylon Automatic Men’s Watch SRPC68K

This Seiko 5 Sports Bottle Cap Root Beer Brown Nylon Automatic Men’s Watch SRPC68K is a classic addition to your wrist. A black dial is complimented by white and silver indexes and hands, which in turn are powered by an automatic 4R36 Caliber 24 jewel movement.

At the 3 o’clock position is a simplistic day and date window, with the day being able to be displayed in Roman numerals or letter abbreviations. At the 12 o’clock position is the ever present Seiko 5 Sports logo in red and silver. Surrounding the dial is a stainless steel case and hardlex crystal glass with the case in such a shape that it resemebles and has earned the nickname ‘bottle cap’. This model in particular has been coined as the ‘root beer’ due to its copper brown bezel ontop of the case. On the flip side of the case is a see through window which allows you to see all the precise inner workings of the timepiece. Then a standard buckle can be used to fasten a brown nylon strap.

This watch has a water resistance of 100 metres, making it suitable for swimming and snorkelling.

The Family: Seiko 5

The Seiko 5 family has set the standard in affordable, rugged and stylish watches since 1963. They incorporate simplicity, but seriousness. The name of the Seiko 5 derives from its five key attributes, which Seiko promised to include in every watch that belonged to the family. They are: automatic winding, displaying the day and date in a single window, water resistance, a recessed crown at the 4 o’clock position and a durable metal bracelet.

1963 marked the year that the Seiko 5 acted as a catalyst in the horological revolution in automatic watchmaking. Even after being in the market for over 50 years, albeit the Seiko 5 still remains as cool and relevant as ever. Though this serves as proof that expert craftsmanship and elegant design will never go out of fashion.

The Brand: Seiko

Ceaseless determination to innovate in every aspect of the watchmaker’s art is what defines Seiko’s 135-year history. By embracing this ethos, Seiko has been responsible for a string of industry-leading advances in the technology of time. Notably, the creation of the world’s first quartz watch in 1969. Or equally impressive the creation of the world’s first TV watch in 1982. And even more relevant today, with our abhorrent use of non-renewable energy sources, Seiko’s Kinetic. This watch had the ability to generate its own power from the movement of the wearer, it was released in 1988. The listed technological developments serve as evidence to illustrate the revolutionary impact which Seiko has had on the watchmaking world. They are also markably unique in that they manufacture every aspect of every watch in-house. They even grow their own quartz crystals and sapphires, hence why Seiko are watchmaking experts.
