Description

Hamilton Jazzmaster Automatic Skeleton Dial Brown Leather Strap Watch H42505510 RRP £1,170

The Case:

The case used on this Hamilton Jazzmaster watch H42505510 really sets the tone for the rest of the timepiece. The case is made from high-grade stainless steel which features a rose gold plating and a polished finish. The plating method used is known as PVD, which is a vacuum coating process that produces a brilliant decorative and functional finish. The crown rests at the 3 o’clock position which once pulled out can be used to adjust the time. The sapphire crystal glass sits in line with the case which allows it to reside neatly underneath a shirt.

The Strap:

For all you Hamilton enthusiasts the strap used on this piece is reference H600.425.107. It is made up of a brown leather material which features detail in the stitching seen on each side. The lug width is 20mm which is complemented well by the case size. Finally, a standard buckle is easily fastened to sit comfortably around your wrist.

The Dial & Functions:

The most eye-catching part of this watch is definitely the dial. It features a skeleton design which allows you to see the intricate workings of the watch. The ruby, also known as the heart of the watch, rests at the 12 o’clock position. Perhaps to the untrained eye it may be missed but the skeleton window is designed in such a way that the Hamilton ‘H’ takes to the centre stage of this piece. Furthermore, the ever present Hamilton logo can be seen at the 3 o’clock position. Around the outside of the dial are rose gold indexes which sit in-between the case and rose gold hands, of which are powered by a quartz movement. Additionally, the hands are coated in a luminous material which allows for easy visibility at night.
By suppressing the escapement regulator and through the refinement of the kinematic chain from the barrel to the escapement, the H-10-S has the capacity to store double the power of comparable standard movements, offering an extended power reserve of up to 80 hours.
This watch has a water resistance of 50 metres, making it suitable for surface swimming.

The Family: Jazzmaster

The genre, Jazz, does not follow traditional musical formula. It tends to be freeform and is often improvised, which makes it a surprising and unpredictable music form. This is something that is subtly resonated through the designs of the watches that make up the Jazzmaster family. It a diverse and far-reaching collection that consists of a range models, that all embody Hamilton’s quality craftsmanship.

The Brand: Hamilton

Since its foundation in 1892, Hamilton Watch Company have developed a reputation for being a provider of accurate timekeeping. Hence they earned the title of The Watch of Railroad Accuracy, as a result of their highly accurate pocket watches. Hamilton earned themselves a place in history, as they found themselves suppliers of watches to the US military in both world wars. The US Naval Lab invited the Hamilton Watch Company to create an American made chrono. There was a shortage of chronos available to the US Government during the First World War. Therefore they had to rely solely on European made pieces. For this reason Hamilton agreed in 1941 to undertake the work.
By 1944 Hamilton had produced more than 10,000 Chronometers in aid of the American War effort. Hamilton have developed a close relationship over the years with Hollywood. They have featured in over 450 films, beginning in 1951 with the Frogman watch. Other films include: Elvis Presley in 1961’s Blue Hawaii and in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Furthermore, Hamilton have featured in films such as ‘Interstellar and The Martian. In 2003, Hamilton moved their headquarters to Switzerland. They are still a global force within the watch industry. This is because Hamilton watches offer a combination of American heritage, Swiss internal workings and a touch of Hollywood flair.

Free Strap Adjustment

It's important that your watch fits your wrist comfortably and looks great at the same time.

Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit.

This is generally a very simple procedure. We can do this for you, or you can get the watch adjusted locally.

Option 1. Specify your wrist measurement and we will adjust it before being sent

When purchasing a watch which has a metal bracelet with adjustable links, we will gladly adjust the watch bracelet to fit your wrist before sending the watch to you - free of charge!

Simply type your wrist measurement (in inches or centimetres) into the bracelet size section of the checkout and we will ensure the watch bracelet is adjusted accordingly before being sent to you. We will include all the surplus links, with the watch.

How to measure your wrist

You can measure your wrist with a piece of string which you can measure against a ruler:

You should allow about half a centimetre (1/4 inch) of slack to prevent it being too tight on your wrist.

In the event of you needing an extra-long wrist bracelet, which requires an extension to the original watch, we must obtain extra links from the manufacturer, and in this event, we will contact you to inform you of any possible delays or applicable charges.

Watches with bracelets adjusted by WatchNation are still eligible under our refund policy.

Option 2. Buy the watch online from WatchNation and have it adjusted locally

If you wish, you can have it adjusted locally by another jeweller or key cutter. However, you will have to cover the cost of this option yourself.
