This new version is characterised by its slim profile and lowered centre of gravity that makes it more comfortable on the wrist. It measures at 40.5mm in diameter and it features a screw down crown at 3 o’clock, as well as straight lugs; all of which are features found on the 62MAS. The case is crafted from stainless steel with a super hard coating, which allows for greater resistance against scratches.

A brushed ceramic bezel insert sits on top of the case. The addition of a ceramic bezel draws attention to the brilliance of this watch, as it a material that is often used by high end brands, such as Rolex, for it anticorrosion, scratch resistant and almost indestructible qualities. The bezel is unidirectional and it can be easily rotated thanks to the the knurled edges.

The Dial:

The design of the dial is similar to that of the Seiko Prospex Trilogy series, as it utilises the same sun brushed blue-grey design. This reflects the beauty of the sea but also hints at their ability to perform at depths which dim the intensity of the oceans’ blue. The layout of the dial is typically well laid out and does generally remain true to the original 62MAS. For example, it includes Lumibrite filled straight sword hands and baton indexes, both of which result in a clean, authentic looking dial. Both hands have been beveled which underpins the craftsmanship gone into this modern iteration. A thin orange seconds hand stands out against the blue dial. The Seiko branding is neatly positioned beneath the 12 o’clock dial, as to not overcrowd the dial. A sunken date window replaces the 3 o’clock mark.

The Bracelet:

This Seiko SPB149J1 is delivered on a beautiful oyster style 3-link stainless steel bracelet. It has been finished with a super hard coating to prevent damage from scratches. This is the most apparent visual deviation from the original model, which came on a fabric strap. It fastens using a three-fold clasp with push-button release, secure lock and extender. A silicone strap is also included in the box.

The Functions:

Seiko’s new 6R35 calibre movement powers this watch and it offers an improved 70 hour power reserve. It also offers hacking and hand winding features. It also has a water resistance rating of 200 metres making it suitable for scuba diving.

If you have any questions please click here

Click here to join our facebook and Instagram!
